Firms Flying High With Millions in Northwest Bankruptcy Fees

Southern District Bankruptcy Judge Allan L. Gropper has granted interim legal fees and reimbursement of expenses in the Northwest Airlines' bankrupt case.
Under an order issued Wednesday, Judge Gropper allowed fees of $6.1 million to Cadwalader Wickersham & Taft for work done from the beginning of the year through May 31 and approved payment of $4.8 million. He also awarded $399,241 of the $409,641 that the firm requested in total expenses.
Arnold & Porter has been granted $2.68 million in total fees, with $1.1 million to be paid under the order, and $232,294 in total expenses.
Boies, Schiller & Flexner will be paid $584,128 out of $730,160 in total fees and $71,897 in total expenses.
For its efforts, Otterbourg, Steindler, Houston & Rosen is to receive $1.1 million of $1.31 million in total fees and $28,773 in total expenses.
The Groom Law Group will be paid $445,020 of $556,275 in approved fees and $38,123 in total expenses.
Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle was allowed $29,598 in total fees and $1,158 in total expenses.
Judge Gropper also granted O'Melveny & Myers $117,567 in total fees and $1,873 in total expenses, while Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker was granted $74,818 in total fees and $2,691 in total expenses.
